Cannabis can feel overwhelming if you’re new—strains, products, effects, and terms can get confusing fast. This guide breaks everything down in a simple, judgment-free way so you can learn the basics and make informed choices.
Cannabis is a plant that has been used for centuries for relaxation, creativity, wellness, and social enjoyment. Today, it’s legally regulated in many places and available in a variety of modern, lab-tested products.
The cannabis plant contains natural compounds called cannabinoids, which interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system.
THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)
Produces the “high” feeling
Can enhance mood, relaxation, and sensory perception
May cause euphoria or drowsiness at higher doses
CBD (Cannabidiol)
Non-intoxicating (won’t get you high)
Often used for balance and calm
Common in wellness-focused products
Many products contain a mix of both.
While modern cannabis is often hybridized, strains are commonly grouped into three categories:
Indica
Typically associated with relaxation and body effects
Often preferred in the evening
Sativa
Commonly linked to uplifting or energizing effects
Often used during the day
Hybrid
A blend of Indica and Sativa traits
Effects depend on the specific strain
